Decq (Odile)

Odile Decq is an architect born in 1955 in Laval, in the Mayenne department of France. Odile Decq graduated in architecture in Paris in 1978 and received a diploma in Urbanism and Planning in 1979 from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris. In 1980, Odile Decq opened her own agency and subsequently went into partnership with Benoît Cornette in 1985 (ODBC agency). Together they achieved two buildings for the “Banque Populaire de l’Ouest” in Rennes, a project which brought them international recognition. A Golden Lion Award was attributed to the ODBC agency during the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 1996. After an international competition in 2001, Odile Decq’s project was selected for the expansion of Rome’s museum of contemporary art (MACRO). In 2004, another one of her projects was selected for the construction of the Regional Contemporary Art Fund (FRAC) in Rennes whose construction is almost completed today (opening scheduled in Spring 2012). Odile Decq has been a professor since 1992 at the “Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture” in Paris where she was elected head of the Department of Architecture in 2007. http://www.odbc-paris.com/web/
